@No.More.Later aims to raise awareness about the crisis that international art students face due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It demands art schools take action concerning the students’ financial situation—for instance by reimbursing their tuition fees—as well as the sudden switch to online education without asking for the students’ or the teachers’ consent. The Instagram account is a call for solidarity and serves as an online platform for sharing practical information, updates about the negotiation process within each art academy, as well as critical reflections on the system of art education at large.
@No.More.Later also highlights the multiple issues at stake in institutions for art education, such as the exclusion of non-EU students, a dysfunctional student union, a lack of communication amongst art schools—issues that are shared by many students including the artists who initiated this project. Üstüner and Yu creatively transform their struggles into action. As an online demonstration, @No.More.Later not only reveals the complexity of the inner workings of the art academy, but also actively engages with various problems that the obstinate art educational structure continues to (re)produce.
